Trip - La Provence d' Afrique - Magaliesburg

Live for the moments you can’t put into words…

A quick spur of the moment weekend breakaway to the breathtaking Magaliesburg.
If we cannot go to France then we make do with a little bit of french flair in Gauteng.

Quick stop for coffee and breakfast
at the Outpost Coffee Cafe in Magaliesburg

Our accommodation for the next couple of days, La Provence d' Afrique

Fairy Berry Kisses - first of many cocktails enjoyed over the two days

The Forest Spa was a real treat and quite refreshing in the African summer heat
Hot Stone Full Body Massage always welcoming

Dinner was served in the little French Piazza, decorated in true French Flair
It was served in the form of a picnic basket that contained our 3 course meal
That together with the French background music and ice cold bubbly,
made for quite a romantic setting

We were not up for the 2 hour river/forest walk but did
attempt a short section of it on our own

Breakfast was once again served from a picnic basket and served on the edge
of the river on the well kept lawns under the willow trees. . . . breathtaking

When in Magaliesburg you have to do the Magalies Meander,
a short road trip with various stops of interest.

One such was the La Veneziana Ice Cream Company
A factory outlet open to the public both for tasking and purchasing.
Pure indulgence. . . .

Second stop was at the Heksies Hideaway for some chili tasting

With my German heritage, how could I not make a point of visiting the
Brauhaus Am Damm for beer tasting made according to the true
German Reinheitsgebot (and of course if you have German Beer
you eat German Pretzels and Vleischsalat)

It was also recommend to us to visit the Black Horse Brewery but in all honesty after enjoying the German beer at Brauhaus, these beers did not match up. Also the place is very commercialized. Very pretty scenery though and well worth a visit. Just very busy.
Way to crowded for my liking.

A lovely weekend was spent touring around the area. The accommodation, well
it was nice but the cottages and the spa are in desperate need of TLC. Nothing a
lick of paint and a good decor eye could not rectify.
Will we be back. . . probably not.
