DIY - Quick Sunday UpCycle

So my mom and dad come up from JBay a couple of weeks ago for a short visit and while my mom was in my kitchen making it smell like a bakery, my dad was in the garage doing his usual handyman stuff. Took some tips from both. One thing I did learn is that I have been approaching the handyman things so wrong for so long. Learn't that with good drill bits and a handy sander, bobs your uncle.

So I spent a Sunday afternoon (with the help om my daughter) making this quick UpCycle cracker and Cheese board. Very rustic, but exactly the looks I was hoping for.

Precious Family Times

"A cousin is a ready-made friend for life"

Spent a wonderful evening with all the cousins. Always memorable and always very special.

Only drawback is that Natascha, Udo and Jeanne are abroad and not with us.

We missed you dearly. 

Kaylin's Matrc Dance

The past weekend our daughter attended her long awaited Matric Dance. 

From the age of 10 she has dreamed of this day, the dress, the shoes, the car. 

Being our farm girl her ideas were a little different but she was 

adamant that she would not settle . . .  on nothing.

Forget the glass slippers, this princess wears boots

 

Her date organized a McLaren as transport

 but she insisted on arriving in a Toyota Hilux

and she was very specific. . . . 

 it had to be a white, double cab and muddy . . . . 

oh and the bonus was it had a John Deere sticker on the back.
So her date arrived in the McLaren and she arrived on the back of the Hilux.

As usual I had a village who all contributed to making her day extra special.
They know who they are.

Trip - Lowveld bliss

Spent the past weekend in the lovely low veld, a couple km's from Nelspruit. I was there to do a maternity and baby shower shoot but could not resist taking a couple of shots of the lovely surroundings.

We had the privileged of staying at the lovely Caracal Lodge - Kudu Cottage. Luxury away from home.

18 Today!

Dankie Ma

Kerkstraat Bom Ontploffing - Vrydag 20 Mei 1983. Ek was in std 8. My ma het in 

die Poyntons gebou gewerk (Siemens). Elke Vrydagmiddag na werk het sy oor die 

pad gestap om vir ons gesin 'n wegneemete by die Golden Egg Restaurant, te koop. 

Dit was presies voor daardie einste restaurant waar die motor met die bom 

parkeer was. Sy sou beslis daardie middag haar lewe verllor het.

Maar dit was nie haar tyd nie, die Here het haar lewe gespaar . . . . 

 sy was daardie Vrydag met verlof en veilig by die huis ten tye van die ontploffing. 

Met moderdag was vandag gevier word, se ek weereens dankie dat sy nog met ons 

is en dat ons die dag saam met haar kan vier, al is sy so bietjie ver van ons 

(in Jeffrey's baai), is sy in ons gedagtes en het ek die voorreg om die 

foon op te tel en met haar te gesels en vir haar net weereens te se hoe lief 

ek haar het en hoe baie sy vir ons almal beteken . . . . . Dankie Ma! 

Kaylin - Celebrating 18

Kaylin must be one of the few 18 year olds that opted for a kiddies party opposed to a booze party.

Balloons, games, sweets that they grew up with and party packs . . . . .  priceless.

Soda Bar, Candy Bar, Ice Cream Bar, Fruit Bar and a Snack Bar . . . . .

Kaylin and her friends at school are know as "Die Plaas Werkers"

It's middle May and the boys swam . . . . .  unbelievable

One of "Die Plaas Werkers" immigrated to New Zealand at the end of last year (Craig). But he is never forgotten.
