Our December visit to JBay drew to a close and just as we were ready to depart our daughter tested positvie for Covid. She'd been living in JBay for about a year and leaving her to be on her own is something this mother heart could not bare. So the rest of the family headed back to Pretoria and I stayed behind to quaranteen with Kaylin.
How would we bide the 14 day's quarantine? Well we found a number of ways.
......and pretty soon we were in the clear.
The first thing we craved was the outdoors and fresh air and no better place
than the Cape St Francis day hike trail.
And every day for the next 3 months we found something different
to do. Seeing our surroundings in a different light.
Nature seemed to have restored itself during our abscense
and we had a renew appreciation for every bit of it.
Fresh Fish & Chips @ Dolphin Lookout Point (my late dad's favourite spot and activity)
Van Staden's Bridge between JBay and PE. We always only drive over it and
wondered what's below. Now we ventured into the unknown and
found it breathtaking.
Suikerbossie is a quaint little coffee and pancake shop just outside of JBay.
We ventured a little further out of JBay towards PE taking all the back roads and
eventually came upon a lovely resturant called Grass Roof. Perfect stop
for scrumptious bugers and gourmet Milkshakes....and all resistence crumbles!
To walk it off we opted for a nearby beach walk but sadly the mist set in and
though it was windy and wet it was something different.
The wonder of this area is how quickly the weather changes or should I say how
different the weather is when moving away from PE and back to JBay.
It can be wet and windy in PE and once you over the hill and JBay comes into view
the weather is hot and sunny and windy, almost alway windy in JBay.
Just some of the other establishments that warrant a visit.
Brewhaha in JBay's Main Road
Bruce's in St Frances for coffee with a view
Coastal Collective in St Frances for the healthier options in life.
And then the beaches open up and we flock............
And life returns to semi-normal................!
